The thing about being a one man crew is that when it actually comes time to release music the amount of work simply compounds and time has a nasty habit of running away from you. Nevertheless, here we are! Monday morning of release week for “Adiga Adiga” (my Telugu cover of the fantastic song by Sid Sriram).

The question I was asked most often when I would tell people I was releasing a cover of Telugu Song was “Why? There’s no real market for it… You’re not going get rich or famous from it. So why bother?”

And I thought about it for a while – I think honestly in the moment I gave the standard response of “Oh you know, I love the music and I love the song”. Which is true… I do and that’s part of it for sure.

There’s another part, however, that I realized in both working on this song and trying my best to do it justice both in musicality and in the Telugu language, is that my why is bigger than that.

As artists we have the capacity to respond to life and its situations in ways that others can’t. And I recognized in myself that’s what I was doing. In life people come and go and most often that’s that and there’s nothing more to be said or to be done. But as an artist I get to do just a little bit more… So I suppose in response to “Why”? This song is meant to be a heartfelt letter to someone very special to me.

She knows who she is.
